social events

There are always lots of social events going on during the year, many involving dancing, others not. All these events will be publicised at Social Dancing on Thursdays and/or via our general mailing list (scottish-dance@ed.ac.uk).

Parties & Outings

There are usually lots of parties in term time - New Scotland has an official Christmas Party and an official summer BBQ, and there are 'after-dance parties' after each of our dances. Besides these there are usually plenty of other parties - with 150+ members there is always a birthday or flatwarming to celebrate!

We also arrange many non-dancing related outings, particularly out of term. These can include cinema trips to films such as Stardust; visits to the Zoo; queueing for free theatre; hill walking...anything any members dreams up! Whatever you fancy doing (within reason!) just email the list and people will show up to join you!

Freshers' Weekend

Freshers' Weekend is a weekend away which New Scotland runs in first term each year. Students and non-students go and it's a great chance for new members to get to know the old members and vice versa. For more details you can visit our Freshers' Weekend page.
